Here’s what you’re signing up for

What is Soiciety?

It's a local news project for people who live in Bangkok. We explain what’s going on and why it matters in under 10 minutes each week.

Our name blends “soi” – the alleyways where Bangkok’s daily life unfolds – with “society,” reflecting our focus on the human stories that define the city.

Who is it for?

English-speaking residents of Bangkok. Expats, bilingual Thais, long-stay folks. If you live here and want to stay informed but don’t have time to dig through scattered English news, this is for you.

What do you publish?

A short weekly newsletter called "From the Main Road." It comes out every Sunday and rounds up what happened in Bangkok that week with explanations on why it matters and what you can do next.

What kind of stories do you cover?

Stuff that affects your daily life in Bangkok: transport, cost of living, city policies, neighborhood changes. No national politics. No recycled tourist news.

How long does it take to read?

Less than 10 minutes. Always.

Why should I trust you?

I’m a journalist, not a content creator. I report, verify and care about getting it right. You can also check out our editorial policies page to see how we work.

Is it free?

Yes, for now. But you can also chip in if you believe in it. It's optional, but it helps keep this going.
