Here’s what you’re signing up for

What is Soiciety?

It's an award-winning local news project for people who live in Bangkok. We explain what’s going on and why it matters in under 10 minutes each week.

Our name blends “soi” – the alleyways where Bangkok’s daily life unfolds – with “society,” reflecting our focus on the human stories that define the city.

Who is it for?

English-speaking, long-term residents of Bangkok. If you live here and want to stay informed but don’t have time to dig through scattered information flow or social media feed filled with noise, this is for you.

What do you publish?

Our weekly newsletter "From the Main Road” comes out every Sunday. We publish “From the Sois,” original features, twice a month.

What kind of stories do you cover?

Stuff that affects your daily life in Bangkok: transport, cost of living, city policies, neighborhood changes. No national politics. No recycled tourist news.

How long does it take to read?

Less than 10 minutes. Always.

Why should I trust you?

I’m a journalist, not a content creator. I report, verify and care about getting it right. You can also check out our editorial policies page to see how we work.

Is it free?

Yes! But if you believe in what we’re building, please join our membership program to show support.
